LBAA Hall of Fame

The Lutheran Basketball Association of America Hall of Fame was established to recognize athletes, coaches, teams, officials, administrators, and support personnel whose accomplishments in connection with the Association and its annual Tournament of Champions is especially noteworthy and also to encourage others to devote themselves to the cause of wholesome athletic participation under the banner of the Lutheran churches in this country.

An individual may be nominated after a minimum of five years participation with the Association or Tournament, or a minimum of five years after a specific instance of the completion of a series of instances for which she/he/they may be nominated.

  • Athletes and coaches: Any individual who has distinguished her/himself as a player of coach in the Tournament of Champions.
  • Teams: Any team that has distinguished itself in some aspect of its participation in the Tournament of Champions.
  • Officials: Any individual who has distinguished her/himself as a referee in the Tournament of Champions.
  • Administrators: Any individual who has distinguished her/himself in an administrative capacity in the Tournament of Champions or it sponsoring Lutheran Basketball Association of America.
  • Support Personnel: Any individual who has distinguished her/himself through outstanding contribution(s) – physical, inspirational, or monetary – to the success of the Tournament of Champions or its sponsoring organizations, the Lutheran Basketball Association of America.

The induction of members to the Hall of Fame shall take place during the National Lutheran Basketball Tournament opening ceremony.  The Hall of Fame committee will advise inductees of their selection by letter.  A representative or survivor shall be eligible to accept the award on behalf of an inductee who is deceased or is otherwise unable to attend the ceremony.
